Faridabad Murder Case: Shocking Discovery of Woman's Body and Family Confession
Tragic Discovery in Faridabad
In a disturbing incident, the remains of a woman were uncovered in Faridabad, leading to a confession from her father-in-law regarding the murder. The body of 24-year-old Tanu Singh was exhumed from a pit located in front of her marital residence. She had been missing since April, and her decomposed remains were found early Friday morning in a 10-foot-deep pit on a public lane, right outside her in-laws' home. The body was discovered beneath a newly laid concrete slab, which had been placed shortly after her disappearance.
Confession by the Father-In-Law
According to reports, Bhoop Singh, Tanu's father-in-law, admitted to the murder during police questioning. Authorities stated that on the night of April 21-22, Bhoop Singh allegedly strangled Tanu on the first floor of their home. His wife Sonia and son Arun were reportedly not present during the incident. Following the murder, he is believed to have disposed of her body in a pit that was initially dug for drainage purposes.
ACP Rajesh Kumar Lochan mentioned, "We are currently looking into the involvement of other family members. The motive seems to be related to dowry, but our investigation is ongoing."
Missing Person Report Filed
After the alleged crime, Bhoop Singh filed a missing person report on April 25, claiming that Tanu had vanished after going to the market. For weeks, he insisted that she had simply "gone to the market" and had not returned. Concerns grew when Tanu's sister, Preeti, tried to contact her by phone but received no reply.
As reported, Preeti revealed that her sister had been subjected to dowry harassment since the early days of her marriage. She noted that shortly after their wedding in July 2023, Tanu returned to her parental home and remained there for over a year.
"Tanu returned to live with us just months after the wedding due to mistreatment," Preeti explained. "She stayed with us for over a year, but when we sent her back, the abuse resumed. They restricted her communication with us, even over the phone."
Statements from Neighbors
Neighbors reported seeing an earthmover at the house on April 23, where Arun Singh and Bhoop Singh dug a 10-foot pit under the guise of drainage work. Just two days later, on April 25, Bhoop Singh approached the police to report Tanu missing.
Tanu's body has been sent for forensic analysis to determine the exact time and cause of death. Four members of the Singh family—Bhoop Singh, his wife Sonia, son Arun, and daughter Kajal—are named in the First Information Report (FIR).
ACP Lochan indicated that Kajal and other family members were present in the house during the alleged murder, and police are investigating whether any of them had prior knowledge or involvement in the crime.
