Dipika Kakar Shares Her Journey After Liver Cancer Surgery
Dipika Kakar's Emotional Journey Post-Surgery
Dipika Kakar has recently opened up about her experience following a 14-hour surgery for stage 2 liver cancer. In her latest vlog, she detailed the emotional rollercoaster she faced, from the shock of her diagnosis to the pain of being separated from her son, Ruhaan, and the steadfast support from her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim.
In the video, Dipika expressed her gratitude, stating, "Having my family and my son Ruhaan around me has significantly improved my spirits." She thanked her fans for their prayers, mentioning, "Some of you performed namaz and special pujas for my well-being, which means a lot to me."
Her ordeal began when doctors identified a tumor in her liver. After conducting scans and tests, it was confirmed to be malignant, necessitating immediate surgery. Dipika recalled the heartbreaking moment she and Shoaib broke down in the hospital corridor upon receiving the diagnosis.
Before the surgery, Dipika faced the difficult task of weaning her infant son Ruhaan overnight, as her treatment would prevent her from breastfeeding. "I was anxious about the surgery, especially since our doctor warned us it would be major. The hardest part was having to wean Ruhaan in just one night. I cried a lot that evening, but I had no choice. I later realized that there was a reason behind it. When I learned about my cancer diagnosis, I felt relieved that he was no longer breastfeeding, as my treatment was about to begin," she shared.
In her vlog, she also recounted the moment she and Shoaib learned about her diagnosis. "I will never forget the corridor of Kokilaben Hospital when we went to see Dr. Somnath with my CT scan. By then, other reports had also come in. Shoaib knew the situation but hadn’t told me. When I asked him about the results, he revealed that things were not good. Seeing the reports myself made it clear that it was serious. In that moment, we both broke down, and I hugged Shoaib tightly. Hearing the words 'malignant' and 'cancer' instilled fear in me," she recalled.
For those unfamiliar, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim tied the knot in 2018 after a few years of dating. They are parents to a son named Ruhaan.
