As reported by Sacnilk, ‘Thug Life’ garnered Rs 7.50 crore on its second day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 23 crores.
The cast and crew of Thug Life recently held promotional events in Delhi, where they engaged with the press. During these discussions, Kamal Haasan mentioned the decision to implement an eight-week window before the film is available on OTT platforms. Many in the industry have expressed concerns about the impact of OTT on traditional cinema. Haasan explained that the Thug Life team requested this eight-week gap for streaming, emphasizing that this approach could benefit other films as well.
He stated, “We asked for this; it wasn’t a negotiation or a deal breaker. We wanted them to accommodate us. Both the production company and the OTT service are collaborating on this experiment. If successful, it could simplify operations for both sectors.”
Kamal Haasan also shared that he composed the dance track ‘Jinguchaa’ for the film, receiving praise from Mani Ratnam for his lyrical contributions. Reflecting on the experience of writing the dance number, he remarked, “I found it enjoyable as it was quite different from my usual style.” In response, Mani Ratnam expressed his astonishment at how well Haasan executed the lyrics.
Mani Ratnam added, “It’s impressive because crafting such a song is quite challenging. It often takes us days to refine it. When he called to say it was ready, I was genuinely surprised at how perfect it was.”
Thug Life features a talented ensemble cast, including Trisha, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Sanya Malhotra, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri.
